What is Computer Gym?
Computer Gym teachers provide weekly computer-based lessons to pre-school children. The lessons are delivered mainly at childcare centres, pre-schools and kindergartens but can be provided at any location where children and parents gather, including homes.

How much is too much?
Dec 14, 2007
Computer access for pre-schoolers is like so much in life: a little is a good thing but too much can be bad for them. With quality software, computers can be a fantastic learning tool and children are so eager to learn. Children can lose track of time though, or want to stay longer on the computer longer than is desirable.
At Computer Gym we recommend 30 minute sessions on the computer for pre-schoolers - once every day or two is enough. Then it's time to go and do something else (other than TV and video!). The Victorian government has established a web site to encourage a variety of activities at www.goforyourlife.vic.gov.au/kids
We will also be exploring Health, Nutrition and Sport in our Term 3 programme in 2008.

How safe is the Internet for your children?
Sep 7, 2007
The Internet is a terrific resource for you and your family, but there are also unsavoury aspects to it.
The Australian Government’s NetAlert web site provides a wealth of useful advice as well as a free internet content filter. You can visit the NetAlert site at www.netalert.gov.au or call 1800 880 176.

Introducing Sparky!
May 7, 2007
Thanks to everyone who helped us name our new friend. Congratulations to the Gray and Roan families for each providing the winning name. They will both receive 6 weeks of free lessons.
Sparky was chosen as the winning name because we feel it reflects the fun nature of what we do, while suggesting computers, kids, bright ideas and so on.
We're confident that children around Australia will love Sparky.
